From Manna to the Bread of Life: How the Scriptures Reveal Higher-Dimensional Wisdom, Leading Us Toward Benevolence and Soul Ascension
The Scriptures are not an ordinary ancient book. They are like a window through which higher-dimensional wisdom shines, gently inviting us to look up to the God who created all things. The wondrous accounts in the Scriptures — such as the manna, the food of angels, and God’s word as the true sustenance of life — point to a deeper truth: the world we live in operates by different rules from the spiritual realm. God’s word is the eternal bridge connecting the two. It not only explains the nature of life but also calls us to live out benevolence (love for God and love for others), allowing cognition (soul and spirit) to continually ascend in dimensions through love.
The Creation of the Spiritual Realm and True Food: God’s Word Is Life Itself
In Genesis chapter 1, God created the heavens, the earth, the seas, and every living thing by His word: “God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creatures that have life… and it was so” (Genesis 1:20-21). He blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful, and multiply” (Genesis 1:22). In the spiritual realm, the “birth” and “nurturing” of living creatures are not the carbon-based processes we know. There is no lengthy pregnancy, laborious feeding, or shadow of death. As soon as a creature is spoken into existence by God’s word, it is instantly mature and complete. It does not live by physical bread but is nourished, grows, and multiplies by God’s continual word.
This is completely different from our daily experience, yet it is clearly confirmed throughout the Scriptures. Jesus later declared, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4). God’s word is the true food of the spiritual realm — abundant, eternal, and full of life, enabling all created beings to live in His blessing.
Manna: The Gentle Projection of Spiritual True Food into the Material World
To let us who live in the material world also taste the reality of the spiritual realm, God sent down manna in the Old Testament — precisely “the food of angels.” The Scriptures record: “He rained down manna upon them to eat, and gave them the food of angels” (Psalms 78:24-25). Manna was like a thin layer of frost, like coriander seed, white, and tasted like wafers made with honey (Exodus 16:14, 31). The children of Israel ate this manna in the wilderness for forty years, each gathering according to his eating, and one portion was enough for a whole day — no extra food was needed.
Even more wonderful, Moses commanded that a jar full of an omer of manna be placed in a golden pot before the Lord as a memorial for all generations (Exodus 16:33). Later the Scriptures confirm that this jar of manna remained uncorrupted for thousands of years (Hebrews 9:4).
Manna was no ordinary food. It was God condensing the “true food” of the spiritual realm (His word) into a visible, touchable, edible form within our world — shaped like small round cakes with the taste of honey. It satisfied the body’s temporary needs yet pointed to a deeper spiritual reality: true satisfaction comes from God’s word. Jesus Himself later explained, “Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. I am the bread which came down from heaven… If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever” (John 6:49-51). Manna was the shadow; Jesus Himself is the reality — He is the imperishable “bread of life” that fully satisfies the soul.
Benevolence and Love for God’s Word: The Foundation for Soul Ascension
The wisdom of the Scriptures goes beyond explaining cosmic mysteries and speaks directly to the human heart. Jesus said that all the law and the prophets hang on two commandments: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:37-40).
Loving God’s word is loving God Himself; loving others as ourselves is living out God’s benevolence. These two commandments are not cold rules but the ladder for soul ascension. When we daily “eat” God’s word (like gathering manna, letting it become the supply of our life), our cognition (soul and spirit) is renewed — rising from selfishness, anxiety, and the fleeting material world into the dimensions of benevolence, peace, and eternity. Just as the manna in the golden jar did not spoil, when we hide God’s word in our hearts, our lives are no longer bound by the decaying laws of this world.
From Genesis to Revelation, the Scriptures consistently reveal that God is a loving Father. He not only created us but is willing to nourish us personally with His word. The story of manna, the food of angels, and Jesus’ own declaration all tenderly tell us: You are not a lonely carbon-based life; you are an eternal soul nourished by God’s word.
Today, Come and Eat This Bread of Life
Dear friends, whenever you open the Scriptures — whether in wilderness-like hardship or in peaceful days — remember: God’s word is manna, the food of angels, love descending from a higher dimension. It calls us to believe in benevolence, to live out benevolence, and through loving God’s word, to let cognition (soul and spirit) continually ascend in dimensions into the abundant life God has prepared.
May we all gather God’s word diligently every day, just as the children of Israel gathered manna, and let it become the true supply of our lives. May this book of higher-dimensional wisdom continually light up our hearts, so that in benevolence we walk with God forever.
Amen.
